Acute Care

Tucked away within Lake Shore Health Care Center, acute care nursing is central to our mission of healing. For the wide range of patients seeking care, rest assured that our qualified nursing team takes each patient’s needs personally.

In recent national quality measurements, our nursing care hit high marks when compared against national standards in categories that included communication, staff responsiveness, medication management and environment. With a focus on patient safety, quality and your satisfaction, we’re here to help you take the steps your physician has set in your plan of care and to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

“Thank you so much for making my hospital stay pleasant. Your kindness, thoughtfulness, pleasant qualities made you my angels of mercy.” R.M.

Our Facilities

The 35-bed inpatient unit at Lake Shore Health Care Center includes 18 private rooms, newly painted and renovated, spacious and comfortable. Specialty beds are available for the comfort of larger patients. Patient rooms also provide free television and telephone service, 24/7.

Wound care is carefully managed here, with new air mattresses for patient comfort while undergoing wound treatment and a specially trained wound care nurse for the management of those with wounds or skin issues.

“The staff was excellent, and the hospital was very clean. My family was well taken care of and informed of my condition. The nurses on the unit are the best!” C.F.

For the convenience of your family and visitors, we offer:

  • A flexible visiting hours policy to accommodate today’s busy schedules
  • Our new family waiting room is located in close proximity to the unit’s central nurses’ station and includes privacy, comfortable seating, telephone, flat screen TV and reading materials.

At the central nurses’ station, telemetry units keep close monitoring of our cardiac patients. To keep the environment quiet, our newly installed nurse call bell system provides the latest technology between patients and staff. In addition, the facility has further reduced noise levels for patient comfort by eliminating overhead announcements except in emergency situations.

Nursing Philosophy

At our facility, your patient care and comfort are at the forefront of everything we do. For this reason, we maintain a low nurse-to-patient ratio, meaning that your RN will provide your total care – from intake, to medication management, personal care and discharge. The benefit to you, our patient, is enhanced communication between our patients and their physicians.
